Think about how things have changed over the past few years and what people are currently trying to do.

  • How do you think it will it change?

  • What are the opportunities and threats to online activism?

  • How will the internet change activism?

  • How will activism change the internet?

I think the main thing that online activism brings is the ability to reach a much larger audience, meaning that there is the potential for massive campaigns and for things to actually change.

Online activism creates just as many barriers as it does opportunities. It has great potential, but currently I feel it has just given birth to quite a few "Keyboard warriors"... They know what they're saying, but put it into action in real life and they have no grasp of real life, no class conciousness at all. Organising activism online also allows events, such as demonstrations to be coordinated by factions, something that is already starting to ruin whatever student momentum is being built up again after 2010.

The internet is a brilliant place but it is also massive, there is no guarantee that a cause will be seen or acted upon. You do get some that go viral like Kony 2012 but others just get lost.
